Oops

 e

On a seemingly epic Target adventure, we happened upon one of those once in a lifetime feeling Target Clearance Opportunities we just! couldn't! pass! up! Their entire stock of outdoor furniture was marked 50% off, and there was barely anything left other than the floor models. And feeling generous of pocketbook to his wife that was losing her mind trying to fit their half dozen darlings into a home half its former size, Obi saw the opportunity to add on to our little beach house with this darling little gazebo and furniture set.

Oh, it was glorious. So much fun. So much more room.

The kids took to sitting out there in the afternoon with popsicles or whatnot and putting on plays. This is Momo singing her 800th rendition of "Closing Time," or something.

Well. We forgot about wind, remember that? We have had some really rainy, really w--i--n--d--y weather the past couple days. And the beautiful addition, somehow those stakes in the sand weren't strong enough to hold down a room size kite.

Whoodathunk?  Not us.

Currently this is its residence, shamefully strapped to the sea grape tree on its side, like some runaway train never comin' back. Except that it didn't get very far. Maybe next time we should anchor it with something more than two inch spikes stuck in the sand?

“Nowadays most people die of a sort of creeping common sense, and discover when it is too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes.”

Have no fear, Oscar, the Family Es will never die of that "creeping common sense".

  1. Oh no!!! I am so sorry! That is just the kind of thing that would happen to us too though - we too would never die of that creeping common sense. We know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we do most things the wrong way first and maybe 2 or 3 more times - then we learn. Luckily, we keep our senses of humor, looks like you guys do too!

  2. Oh stink!!! We had a similar trampoline experience last fall. We've been calling for replacement parts since then and the part is STILL on back order! Argh. Hopefully you did not experience any real damage to the beautiful gazebo and will not have similar issues with customer service.

  3. Oh no...well it looked great while it lasted! And, we had the exact same thing happen to us with an outdoor gazebo like that.

  4. Hilarious. Especially the Closing Time act. Heh, that sand in the grass looks like a light dusting of snow from here.
