In which my fashionotsa strikes again.
Because I just can't resist Theme Thursday, but ain't feeling the photographer this week, I'm phoning in my participation this week with Clan Donaldson with pictures I didn't even take, phone pictures. So...
There we were, our town's Easter egg hunt last Saturday, and I was feeling all ritzy because I brushed my hair and was wearing a skirt and it wasn't from the 90's and it was from Dillards, ok, the little kids department, but still, Dillards.
But I forgot when I put it on that it was one of those high-low skirts I have heard so much mean girl hater talk about but I still think are cute. And I put it on backwards.
So there I was, yucking it up with all kinds o' neighbors all morning, feeling glam with my newly dyed back to my natural color in order to get rid of my skunk high-lights hair, with my phony Uggs, stylishly sipping coffee, all the while looking like a potty-training toddler whose skirt got all wrangled in the bathroom and whose mom was too lazy to fix it.
Here I am in this pic, pretentiously looking into the distance, thinking, "All those Always Put Together Moms are looking at me in my skirt and saying to themselves, 'What? No jeans or running shorts? Maybe we were wrong about her...'" But no, they were actually rolling their eyes and debating whether to say anything or just make polite conversation with me while laughing to themselves. Oh, well. Either way, I was the life of the party.
From now on, I leave the cuteness to my kids. They do it so much better than me.
But maybe they will let me still peak out from behind them every once in awhile.
Ha! I LOVE the backwards skirt! Those high-low skirts are so confusing to me - they were EVERYWHERE right when I got pregnant last time, so that was a trend that I automatically followed with all my too-small-for-my-enormous-twin-belly maternity dresses :P
ReplyDeleteYou still look totally cute - I bet they all just figured your toddler had pulled your skirt down or something :P
This post gave me a good laugh this morning!
ReplyDeleteI think those moms were too smittin' with your precious son and his adorable hat to notice your skirt. Funny post!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, and yes quite funny! Well done!
ReplyDeleteBahahahaha!!! So glad this doesn't ONLY happen to the likes of me. :) And girl, the fact that you can still buy your clothes from the "little girl's section" negates any backward pairing that might have or might not have gone on! Take it from someone who buys their clothes in the "big girl's section" if I could rock a skirt from my daughter's closet I wouldn't care if I wore it on my head, I would be ecstatic.
ReplyDeleteExactly what I was thinking, but Angie put it better than I ever could. ;-)
DeleteAmen!
DeleteHa ha ha ha - I know the feeling. I made it through three meetings the other day with my sweet maternity business-casual pants on backwards before I noticed. The shame . . .
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is funny!!
ReplyDeleteFunny! The potty training toddler comment cracked me up. I love your hair!
ReplyDeleteIf it helps, when I saw the first picture of your skirt, I thought to myself, "Wow. That is a really striking skirt! It's so interesting how it moves up the diagonal like that!"
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha. You wore a high-low skirt backwards! And I'm the one who thought it was high fashion!
You are awesome. That is all.
ReplyDeleteHa...I think you look great. And, I agree..if you can wear clothes from the little girls section, you can wear them however the heck you want.
ReplyDeleteI am dying from laughter! Hilarious commentary! But, truly, you look great! I wouldn't have guessed "backwards skirt" at all!
ReplyDeleteGreat commentary! If you felt good in it, it looked good, too. (Now, can you come teach me what a high-low skirt is?) :-)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. Now you always have to wear it like that so they think you did it on purpose.
ReplyDeleteYour newly dyed hair makes you look like me.
ReplyDeleteprecisely what I was going for
DeleteI love the backwards skirt!!
ReplyDeleteI'm completely fashion stupid. I walk into a store and my brain melts from all the color choices and style ... thingamabobs...
Pinterest helped me for a bit, then I went and got pregnant again. lol
I thought it was a new fashion trend. And I often put my skirts on backwards!
ReplyDeleteHa ha. That is funny! Maybe you'll start a new trend!
ReplyDeleteThat is so me, sooo me! This was awesome, glad to know I'm not the only fashionista out there!
