Theme Thursday: Hat

Thanks again, Cari, for hosting the link up!

100% of children poled hated this picture. My children. Isaac refused to answer, opting to ask to watch "Diego," so he remains my favorite. AnneMarie understandably could not get over the fact that I was "gazing toward the heavens, and that is just weird." Peter suggested I mess around with filters to get a better "feeling going on" and this is what I came up with there, via Google Plus's Creative Kit:

Maybe better? Actually, I think it is. I love what it did to the hat, which is what I was going for in the first place, all kinda shadowy and mysterious. Yes, I too want to vomit at my expression, but it was seriously hard to take this myself.

What I wanted to showcase in the first place was my sharp chapeau. This is amongst my favorite possessions, and I wear it here in the central Flo from about October through February. It is the loveliest thing, handmade by Melissa Moody of MoodyMe out of upcycled men's trousers. Whoda thunk?

And honestly, the best thing about the wistful expression that attempts to upstage my glorious hat is that I can't look at it without thinking of this:

So there, my mean children. Happiness begets happiness!

  1. Trying this again:

I love love love that hat. I'm going to have to check out the shop because my daughter is a serious hat lover.

And it's funny, because as soon as I opened this page, my 4 year old and I both went, "Ooooohhh!!!" at your picture. I like the light, the pose is NOT awkward, and I love the books in the background.

However, that marching band boy is hilarious.

Thanks for linking up. Hope to see you next week.

(had to delete my original comment because I didn't proofread it and ended up insulting you through my poor editing skills.)

  6. See, if I say your kids don't know what they're talking about (which they do not), then you can be all "She insulted my children!" but if I say they DO know what they're talking about, you'll think I don't love your photo which I a thousand times doooooooooooooooooooooooo. Quandary of quandaries!

  11. I don't think it looks awkward! I think the light is amazing and I would tackle you for that hat if I lived anywhere near Florida. (I'm not really violent, but it's fun to imagine).
